I can't fully express how much I appreciate the philosophy put forth in this post. All of it. Every paragraph. The first thing that attracted me to the article was the concept of getting children acquainted with real tools and real tasks. Not red plastic hammers, but real ones, etc.
Some time back, I mentioned somewhere that I'd teach my kids to drive as early as they could handle it. In a field, in a parking lot obviously. Not take to the roads. But to impart knowledge and confidence and as a way for them perhaps to be able to act in unforeseen circumstances if ever needed. Etc.
